Can COVID-19 Live in Pools & Spas?
The latest update from the CDC:
"There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.”
If you are managing your recreational water to government standards (Model Aquatic Code) this should control any risk of the spread of the virus through swimming pool water, spas or water features.
However, there is risk to guests by congregating in close proximity, and there remains the possibility the virus may live on surfaces in and around the pool area (chairs, tables, handrails, gates, etc.)
