Pool chemicals are required to keep pools safe for swimming, however for operators, pool chemicals can be the most dangerous part of the job. *Only allow those who have been trained in pool chemical safety practices to handle pool chemicals.

Get trained in Pool Chemical Safety	Ask for help if you are not trained for specific tasks	Read entire product label or Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before using any chemical	Learn your facilities Emergency Chemical Spill Response Plan
USING POOL CHEMICALS SAFELY
Wear appropriate equipment- safety goggles, gloves, masks Read product label before each use: Handle in a well- ventilated area Minimize dust, fumes, and splashes Open one container at a time Measure carefully Never Mix: Chlorine products with acid; this could create toxic gasses Different pool chemicals with each other Only pre-dissolve pool chemicals when directed by product label If label directs pre-dissolving, add the pool chemical to water. Never add water to pool chemicals.
Always respond to pool chemical spills immediately.
Follow product label directions for safe disposal. NEVER reuse chemical containers
